Free Baggage allowance for travel from USA (EWR) to UK (LHR) on Air India operated flights.

Executive Class : 3 Pc. / 32 Kgs. each

The sum of the 3 dimensions (length + breadth + height) must not exceed 62 inches or 158 centimeters for each piece.

The maximum weight permissible for a single piece of baggage is 32 Kgs. or 70 pounds.

Economy Class: 2 Pc. / 23 Kgs. each

The sum of the 3 dimensions (length + breadth + height) of both must not exceed 107 inches. Moreover the linear dimension of each piece should not exceed 62 inches.

The weight of each bag must not exceed 50 pounds or 23 Kilos.

Infants in all classes 1 Pc. 10 kg / 22 lb.

The sum of the 3 dimensions (length + breadth + height) must not exceed 45 inches or 115 centimeters. In addition they are entitled to 1 collapsible stroller/carrycot/infant car seat subject to availability of space.

Economy Class : Two (2) Pieces not to exceed 50 lbs /23 kg each. Combined dimensions of 2 pieces (length + width + height) not to exceed 107inches/ 273 cm, provided neither piece exceeds 62 inches/ 158cm

One (1) additional piece as per cabin class on India, USA/Canada (on AI operated routes) and VV route for AI Maharajah Club / AI Golden Edge Club/ AI Silver Edge Club/ Star Alliance Gold members.

Free Baggage allowance for Interline journeys on a single ticket

For travel from/to Canada, the carrier whose code appears in the Carrier Box of the first flight of the ticket is known as the “selecting carrier”. The selecting carrier’s baggage policy applies to the entire itinerary of a single ticket. Whilst interline journeys are not sold on this website, you may have purchased an interline journey from an Air India ticket office or through a travel agency or travel website. Your baggage allowance will be indicated on your Itinerary Receipt.
Example 1: Toronto-AI-London-AI-Delhi round-trip journey. Air India’s checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operating carrier on each flight, in this case Air Canada Toronto-London, and Air India London-Delhi.
Example 2: Calgary-AC-Toronto-AI-London-AI-Ahmedabad round-trip. Air India’s checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operating carrier on each flight, in this case Air Canada Calgary-London and Air India London-Ahmedabad.
Example 3: Chennai-AI-Delhi-AI-London-AI-Montreal round-trip. Air India’s checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operating carrier on each flight, in this case Air India Chennai-London and Air Canada London-Montreal.
Example 4: Vancouver-UA-Chicago-AI-Hyderabad round-trip. United’s checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operated carrier on each flight, in this case United Vancouver-Chicago and Air India Chicago-Hyderabad.

Note

Piece concept is not Applicable on Flights operated by Beech craft & ATR Aircraft and on class of travel U,T & S.

The following items will be considered as part of your checked in baggage allowance and must not exceed 62 inches or 158 centimeters – sleeping bag or bedroll/rucksack/knapsack/back-pack/fishing kit/sporting arms/snow-skis/water skis/golfing kit/fishing kit/wheelchair or assistive devices that the passenger is dependant upon.

Child fares are entitled to the same baggage allowance as adults.

Incapacitated passengers may carry one wheelchair or other assistive devices.

    If I am travelling from Canada to Delhi on Air Canada and I purchase a domestic flight in India to travel from Jaipur to Mumbai and Mumbai to Goa return during this trip am I allowed the International allowance I was allowed by Air Canada from Toronto to Delhi? Please let me know if Air India or any other local airlines would allow me my international allowance during my travel in India.I would like a response. Thank you.
