Travel to / from the Americas and the U.S. and Canadian Territories

The region is divided into zones 6 and 7, for which excess baggage charges are calculated per piece. (A surcharge is collected for oversized and overweight baggage.) The excess baggage charges include charges for the excess number of baggage pieces and excess size (weight) of baggage.
The charges for the excess number of baggage pieces are applied when three or more pieces of baggage are checked. The charge for the excess number of baggage pieces is collected per extra piece.
The following baggage fees are mainly based on flights operated by China Airlines. Passengers traveling with a flight operated by our code-shared partners.

Charges for Oversized/Overweight Baggage

Any checked baggage, including first two pieces (free allowance) will be treated as oversized/overweight if its total dimension and/or its weight exceeds the limit stipulated in free baggage allowance. Multiple times of the Unit Rate will be charged to such baggage as the charges for excess baggage pieces, and an extra charge will be applied to the checked premium economy class and economy class baggage.

Any baggage whose total dimensions exceed 80 inches (203 cm) and/or of which the weight exceeds 70 lb (32 kg) shall not be carried as checked baggage unless prior handling arrangements have been made with the carrier(s). Any such baggage shall be excluded from the free baggage allowance and shall be weighed and charged at three times the applicable Unit Rates for the first 32-45 kg or fraction thereof. For each additional 10 kg or fraction thereof, one additional Unit Rate shall be charged.

Extra Charge

Aside from excess piece/oversized baggage fees, an extra charge is collected per piece from premium economy class passengers carrying checked baggage (including the first two pieces) that weigh 28 – 32 kg/piece and from economy class passengers carrying checked baggage (including the first two pieces) that weigh 23 – 32 kg/piece.
Aside from excess piece/oversized baggage fees, an extra charge is collected per piece from passengers carrying any baggage of which the total dimensions exceed 62 inches (158 cm) but not exceeding 80 inches (203 cm) and the weight is less than 32 kg. In addition, an extra charge is charged per piece from premium economy class passengers carrying baggage that weighs 28 – 32 kg/piece and from economy class passengers carrying baggage that weighs 23 – 32 kg/piece.
