  • Rabia Ajam

    Good day,

I am Dr. Rabia Ajam. I was travelling with Saudia Airlines on business class to Toronto, Canada from Amman, Jordan on flights SV 636 & SV 61, arriving Toronto on 23 April 2018 along with my daughter Jude Nuqul; reference number MFRAXM.

The trip to Jeddah was fine. The wait in Jeddah airport was acceptable despite the overcrowded lounge where there was only a single chair available that I had to share with my daughter. Leaving Jeddah, the flight was delayed for 1.5 hours with all passengers on board.

Upon arriving in Toronto, and to my surprise, I was called to the counter and informed that 2 out of our 3 pieces of luggage did not arrive. I was asked to fill a form, which I did NOT receive a copy of, leaving me with no claim number. I only had my luggage tags as reference. I was given a phone number to call for inquiry, and no date of possible luggage arrival was given. No assistance was offered by your airline whether temporary toiletries and change of clothing or monetary compensation as customary with other carriers.

Sadly, and to my extreme frustration, all numbers available for Saudia in Toronto, including the number provided at the counter initially, were directed to voicemail where I left 2-3 messages daily for the following 8 days. But no one gave me the courtesy of replying with any feedback. Finally, on Saturday 28 April, one number answered but the person had no information to give other than that luggage will eventually arrive, date and time yet unknown!!!!!!

For 8 days, my daughter and I were left with no personal items, since the arriving suitcase had summer clothing belonging to my son who is studying in Toronto. We had to purchase every single item needed, be it clothing, toiletries, shoes, coatsā€¦.. That added an extra financial burden which was not prepared or accounted for.

Finally, and after 8 days of dismay and hardship, on Monday 30 April at 11:30 pm the 2 pieces of luggage were delivered to my hotel without even an apology or explanation. Ironically, we only had 3 days left in our vacation as we were flying back on Friday 4 May 2018.

This was my first and probably last experience with Saudia. If this is the way business class travelers are treated, I pity economy passengers. The lack of respect, consideration, assistance and service was overwhelming.

Waiting to hear from your end in regards to appropriate compensation for the above shortcomings and lack of professionalism.

    Regards,

    Rabia Ajam Nuqul
