    Turkish Airlines Cargo Office,

On December 19th 2017, I travelled from Iran IKA airport in Tehran to Canada YUL airport in Montreal. I decided to use the Turkish Airlines e-Cargo service to ship around 40 Kgs of my personal items to my destination in Canada, AWB number 235-68549574. This became one of the worst and purely dishonest experiences I have had with Turkish Airlines.

As soon as I arrived in Montreal I received a call from the IKA cargo unit that my package was 89 Kgs instead of the 40kgs I had dropped off. This sudden doubling of my shipment became as a surprise to me since according to my packing list I had indeed dropped off 40Kgs. I was charged for an extra 49Kgs, and although I persisted the agency to double check the weight of my shipment they insisted that they were correct. I sent my lawyer in Iran to go and inspect this in the Airport however, the agents refused to show him my boxes and to weight them in front of him.

On January 10th 2018, I travelled to the YUL airport to pick up my shipment and to my dismay I found 38 units of MDF boards that weighed around 43Kgs, inside my boxes! These boards were not in my original boxes that I dropped off at the IKA unit and were the reason why I had to pay extra. I even lost my credibility at the customs in YUL as they discovered this extra non-personal items in my shipment.

Additionally, due to mishandling of my cargo, some of my personal items have been damaged as well. I have attached pictures of the damaged cargo as well as the extra MDF boards to this email.

Not only I feel tricked, this kind of customer service from Turkish Airline is truly shocking. As a frequent flyer and a Smiles for Miles member, I feel like this agency has no respect for its customers and I am considering terminating my relations with this airline.

I request an immediate follow up of this issue that has caused me mental, physical, and monetary costs. I had to pay an extra $350.00 USD for and over shipment of items that did not belong to me. I had my personal items damaged, and I have been lied to. Therefore, I request for a complete refund of my air freight as well as repair costs for my damaged items. You can find attached to this email pictures of my damaged items as well as the MDF boards.

I am confident that Turkish Airlines values customer services and I am hoping for this issue to get resolved as soon as possible. If not, I will have no option other than to pursue legal action through the international authorities and report this (what I hope is a mistake) as fraud.

    Turkish Airlines frequent flyer,

    Masoumeh Hajisaffar
