    Malawi Airline, LUSAKA OFFICE
    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

RE: COMPLAINT OF ABUSIVE AND UNREASONABLE BEHAVIOUR AGAINST MR. FRED MAZYOPA, MALAWI AIRLINE, LUSAKA OFFICE

I wish to lodge a complaint against the above-named employee who is based at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka. I was the victim of his aggression and unprofessional judgement for which he apologised but immediately turned the tables around to abuse his office by tearing my boarding pass and gave instructions to offload me.

The facts of the matter are that I was on the 12:20 hours flight ET34 from Lusaka to Lilongwe and when checking in, the responsible lady politely advised that my bag was slightly overweight to which I admitted and I offered to leave some staff home in order to comply and even started to offload some baggage. At that stage, someone from behind her, who I came to learn is Mr. Fred Mazyopa, chipped in and said that the bag was not the right size for check-in luggage. I of course expressed surprise because my bag is standard carry-on luggage and I know this for a fact because I took that into consideration when buying it and I have flown all over the world with it for over three years even on small aircrafts where I know that the standard procedure is to sky-jet any some luggage in certain circumstances.

Upon me enquiring further and stating my understanding that my bag was standard check-in luggage, he charged towards me, pointing his finger in my face while advancing his body towards me. At that moment, I advised him that his action was not necessary and infact tantamount to assault, abusive conduct and intimidation. He then admitted and apologised for the behaviour.

To my surprise however, immediately after apologising, he grabbed the boarding pass from the attending lady and tore it to pieces and instructed the lady to offload me. I asked him why he did that and he said he had the right to do so. In view of the above, I hereby lodge a complaint against him for the following reasons:

    1. My lodging in a complaint about his uncalled for behaviour, to which he admitted and apologised, did not warrant him to abuse his
position by threatening to of load me.
    2. I was the victim of his aggression and unprofessional judgement and the information I was given that he is the highest ranking officer
and I had nowhere to report to was incorrect and misleading I believe.
    3. His opinion of the bag not being the correct size was totally wrong and to this effect, I can provide the dimensions for verification. I
also think he does not have the discretion on the size of bags because this is provided for in the rules and regulations.
    4. His threatening behaviour of pointing his finger at me and advancing his body close to mine, which he did on two occasions, is totally
unacceptable behaviour especially that he was unprovoked.
    5. For information, the bag he wrongly claimed was not carry-on baggage and would not fit into the aircraft because he apparently
according to him he understands aircrafts fitted very well in the aircraft overhead compartment and I reiterate that it was indeed the
correct size as per international standard and his opinion of the size of the aircraft was either deliberately false, out of ignorance or
just an abuse of his office.

I re-iterate that the officerā€™s behaviour must be checked because I would not want anyone else to go through what I went through. I was the victim of abuse and he was the aggressor but abused the system to want to turn tables around. His behaviour was certainly not in line with the values of Air Malawi and Ethiopian Airlines.

    Submitted for your consideration
