Aegean Airlines S.A. was founded as Aegean Aviation in 1987. It is the largest Greek airline by total number of passengers carried, by number of destinations served and by fleet size. A Star Alliance member since June 2010, it operates scheduled and charter services from Athens and Thessaloniki to other major Greek destinations as well as to a number of European and Middle Eastern destinations. Its main hubs are Athens International Airport in Athens, Thessaloniki International Airport in Thessaloniki and Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus. Is there any charge to carry Sports Equipment / Musical Instruments in Aegean Airlines?
Special Baggage: Baggage that exceeds the standard dimensional but remains within the acceptable weight specifications (32 kgs). It includes as a bulky oversized bag, mobility equipment, sports equipment, musical instruments or weapons & ammunition carriage. If the weight of the bags exceeds 32 kg, it can only be carried as cargo and charges applied.
You can add and pay for your sports equipment when you book your ticket, through Manage my booking or when you check in online. Other categories must book though AEGEAN’s Call Centre.

How can i carry Golf Equipment in Aegean Airlines?
Golf equipment accepted on a priority basis as there is a limited number of relevant equipment allowed to transport on each flight.
Transport Prepayment/Payment at the airport for Golf Equipment
- Domestic routes: 35 EUR
- International routes: 45 EUR
- Miles+Bonus Gold members: No charge
Notes:
– Sport/Special equipment must not exceed 1.70m in length for flights operated by ATR aircraft.
– Charges will applied for the sport/ special equipment that exceeds the cabin baggage dimension limitation.
– If the sport / special equipment exceeds the maximum weight of 32 kg, it can carry only as cargo that applied charges. For clarification passengers should may contact the Cargo Department.
– Each passenger allowed to carry a maximum of five (5) items in total (including baggage, pets/animals, sports / special equipment and musical instruments).
– For booking sports equipment through AEGEAN’s Call Centre, a service fee of 8 EUR per passenger will apply. Booking must made before 2 hours of departure. Fees does not apply for weapons and ammunition.

Musical Instruments in Cabin / Checked Baggage

Musical Instruments may transport either as checked baggage or carried with you in the cabin. You can book through the AEGEAN call centre. In Stringed instruments, strings must loosened to prevent damage.
Checked Baggage: Instruments carried subject to the policy regarding special baggage and charged at the corresponding rate (weight/ dimensions). When check in the instrument, uou’ve to sign a Limited Release Form and carry it.
Cabin:
Instrument carried in the cabin will be consider as “Hand Baggage” and its should not exceed 56 cm in height x 45 cm in length x 25 cm, 8kg. Passengers advised to contact the Call Centre if the musical instruments exceeds its limit and carry as Cabin Baggage. The extra seat may either Economy or Business class and no taxes are charged. The charges paid through the Call Centre.

Bookings for weapons / ammunition [sporting/hunting guns, pistols, rifles plus ammunition (according to IATA DGR Regulations and if packed in a separate bag)] can be made only through the AEGEAN Call Center, upon relevant approval.
Charge per weapon or ammunition carriage: 50 EUR (Note: Flights from Cyprus had an extra fee of 25EUR must paid by the passenger on Aegean ticketing desk).
