Arkia Israeli Airlines ,  is an Israeli airline. Its head office is on the grounds of Sde Dov Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. It is Israel’s second-largest airline, operating scheduled domestic and international services, as well as charter flights to destinations in Western Europe and across the Mediterranean. Its main base is Ben Gurion Airport, with hub at Ramon Airport.

 

Arkia Israeli Airlines Checked Baggage

  • The maximum domestic flight baggage allowance (including Arkia Low Cost flights) is 20 kg.

Baggage allowance

The free baggage allowance that Arkia Israeli Airlines permits each passenger depends on whether the passenger is travelling domestically or internationally. Furthermore, it also depends on the cabin class that the passenger flies in.

Arkia Israeli Airlines Carry on Baggage

  • One carry-on item weighing a maximum of 7 kg and measuring no more than 20 x 40 x 55 cm.

Carry-on baggage

Arkia Israel Airlines permits the passengers to carry one piece carry-on baggage for free. The baggage can be of maximum 7kg weight with a 20 x 40 x 55cm dimension. Passengers are expected to make sure that their baggage doesn’t contain any prohibited items. Failure to do so will result in confiscation of items by airport security. In addition, if the carry-on baggage weighs more than the allowance then it will be sent in the cargo hold.

NOTE: This is true for both international and domestic flights.

Checked baggage

Arkia Israel Airlines permits the passengers one free checked-in baggage. This is excluding the basic fare which does not include free baggage allowance. The baggage must weigh a maximum 23kg weight. The same is true for international flight. At the time of booking passengers can purchase baggage allowance. Passengers can expect a higher charge for baggage allowance if they purchase it at the time of check-in. Lastly, overweight baggage will be charged according to the tariffs current on the date of the flight.

Travelling with pet

  • Arkia Israel Airlines calculate the payment of the pet in the following way:
  • (Weight of the pet + the cage) x excess rate per kg (valid on the date of departure)
  • The minimum charge is based on excess weight of 3kg. Passengers are expected to provide a muzzle, a cage and documents required for the pet to enter the intended destination.

Information for pets in the cargo hold is as follows:

  1. The animal is expected to be kept in a separate cage which is approved by Arkia
  2. Only animals that are non-threatening to the employees, who will be responsible to handle them, may fly.
  3. For the transportation of dogs it is necessary that they have a muzzle on
  4. Appropriate documents are required for international flights
  5. There is a fixed rate for pet service, this is collected at the airport
  6. Domestic flight passengers can rent a cage at the airport but this depends on availability

Information for pets in the cabin is as follows:

  1. Passengers can bring a guide dog, but the dog must be less than 8 KG with the maximum 40 x 20 x 40 dimensions. The weight aforementioned is including the cage
  2. If the animal has signs of illness or an offensive or door the animal may not be able to travel on board
  3. Passengers are expected to sign a special ‘travelling with pets’ form
  4. It is important for passengers to arrange travelling with the pet at the time of booking flight tickets

Prohibited items

Passengers are forbidden to carry the following items:

  1. Radioactive materials and drugs
  2. Briefcases with an alarm mechanism
  3. Oxidising materials
  4. Compressed gas (flammable, nonflammable and toxic )
  5. Corrosive materials such as liquid batteries an acid
  6. Poisons and infectious materials
  7. Mercury, magnetic materials and harmful substances
  8. Ammunition, fireworks, explosive materials and flammable items

Sports equipment

Passengers can carry ordinary sports equipment, at 50% of the excess weight rate. However this is only if the permitted weight is exceeded. Other fragile/irregular sports equipment or surfboards, also at 50% of the excess weight rate. However this is regardless of the total baggage weight of the passenger. Moreover bicycles are permitted but they need to be packed properly with front wheels detached, tires deflated and passengers must sign a disclaimer. In addition, handling charges are applicable for bicycles. The charges 30 USD on international flights and 120 NIS on domestic flights.
