What is the Eligibility to obtain IATA Membership?

The American Travel Association (ATA) offers a variety of air travel and tourism training courses. To enroll in its course, you must have completed 12th grade or have a graduate degree for regular classes. The candidate should be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. They should be well-versed in the basic geography of various countries, continents, and oceans.

Participants in all IATA courses must be able to read, write, and converse in the language of instruction. For courses in English, the recommended level of language competency is ICAO Operational Level 4 or the corresponding level for other languages

Who can apply?

An applicant must complete a Diploma course to become an IATA consultant. An applicant must have a minimum of two years of industry experience to be considered for this course. Candidates for the advanced cargo marketing course should have three and a half years of cargo sector experience. Working graduates can also take courses through IATA’s distance learning program.

Cost of IATA membership

One time joining fees and annual dues are there to pay.

One time joining fees

Application fee: USD15,000 (when submitting the application form)

Entrance fee: USD15,000 once the administrative review is complete and the application
is ready for final approval.

Annual Dues

  • All IATA members should pay the annual fee along with the variable fee which varies every year depends on the member count.
  • Tonne Kilometers (RTKMā€™s) for passenger and cargo, both scheduled and non-scheduled.
  • The variable portion calculation is not relevant to airlines with only domestic operations, which will pay only the minimum fixed fee. RTKMā€™s for the two yearā€™s previous are used to calculate the current years dues (so 2017 RTKMā€™s are used to calculate 2019 dues).
  • A compulsory annual contribution of USD 500 towards the International Airline Training Fund (IATF) is charged to each member and invoiced at the same time as the annual dues.
  • The annual dues are invoiced twice a year. 50% + the IATF i n December for the first half of the following year and the remaining 50% in May/June for the second half.
  • For new members, the annual dues are prorated to the month of entry in the year of joining.

Ā Candidates who complete IATA-certified courses are able to work anywhere in the world. Its basic courses provide in-depth knowledge and perspectives on tourism and travel. This qualification will broaden a person’s professional horizons in a variety of fields, including cruise lines, airlines, ticketing travel agencies, auto rentals, tour operators, and hotels. The following topics are covered in the courses which will help to get job:

  • The geography of the world
  • City codes from the International Air Transport Association
  • Reservations for flights and the production of PNRs
  • CRS and airline ticketing
  • Constructions of air fare and ticketing fare
  • Customer service and itinerary planning
  • Management of facilitation
  • Customer service and relationships, among other things.

What is cost of course fee?

The cost of an ordinary training ranges from Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,20,000, including service tax and IATA registration fees.

What is the duration of courses?

The course will take 177 hours to complete. The course is designed for students interested in learning about travel and tourism, as well as airline reservation agents, tour operators, and travel agency sales and marketing professionals.
