Eligibility for getting IATA card
A travel agency must have a valid IATA Code in order to apply for an IATA/IATAN ID Card. Applicants must also meet the following ID card eligibility criteria. Additional criteria, such as a probationary term or working hours, may be imposed by some organization.
Eligible Applicants
- The sole proprietor, partners, stockholders, and shareholders of a travel business (must own at least 20 percent of the company shares and be listed in IATA Agency records)
- Anyone in a paid role in the areas of administration, marketing, finance, operations, or sales of travel should read this.
- Working for a travel agency under a documented contract or agreement that is in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations are known as “Independent Consultants.”
Eligibility criteria
- You must have a salaried job at the travel agency to apply
- The candidate must put in at least 20 hours a week at the travel agency in order to be considered.
- Within the last 24 months, a Canadian applicant must have earned at least CAD5,000 (salary or commission)
- IATA/IATAN ID cards cannot be obtained from any of the following locations: Cargo, MSO, GSA, TRUE, or Travelsellers.com

How to apply for IATA Card?
- Fill in the complete application form online.
- Prepare all your documents.
- Submit the application.
Documents required:
1. Digital photo with a specification of
- the picture has been taken within the last year to reflect your current look
- Directly in front of the camera, there are no facial profiles.
- In front of a white or off-white wall or ceiling
- Neither hats nor sunglasses are permitted.
- At least 300 pixels wide and 400 pixels high are required for this image.
2. Employment Verification (provide one of the following accepted documents)
- a formal letter of employment signed and dated by your immediate supervisor, stating your current position and the company name and address.
- Your entire name, the name of your employer, and the date of your pay stub (payment or commission record).
- PDF files with dates no more than 3 months after the date of the application are required.
Please also submit one of the following acceptable papers for a name change on an existing card:
- Marriage certificate
- Passport
- Driver’s license
- National Identify Card

What information does IATA ID card has?
The ID Card contains the following information:
- Name of the cardholder
- Verification Number / VER # (10-digit code for each individual working at an IATA Travel Agency)
- Photo of the cardholder
- IATA Agency Codes
- Name of the Agency
- Card expiry date
- Other pertinent information to the cardholder
What is the cost of IATA ID Card?
Depending on the type of agency you work for, an ID Card might cost anywhere from $30 to $70.00. (additional courier fees may apply).
Validity of IATA ID Card
An IATA/IATAN ID Card is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Where to validate your IATA/IATAN ID card?
When you obtain your ID Card, you and your suppliers will be able to check its progress. Check the status or validate of your ID card by visiting CheckACode or contacting IATA through the IATA Customer Portal right away.
What is the procedure for obtaining IATA card for agents based in the US & Canada?
Validity: The validity of an ID card is one year. There are no refunds for fees.
The following are the ID Card costs:
- (online): $40.00; $45.00 (in person): New ID Card (phone or email)
- Identity Card Renewal / Reissue $35.00 (online), $40.00 (offline) (phone or email)
- All major credit cards are accepted, including American Express, MasterCard, and Visa.
- Within 48 hours of payment, cardholders can view their digital ID Card on the AgentExperience app.
- The agency’s mailing address receives a physical ID card in the mail.
- Allow 10 business days for regular mail delivery and 4 business days for speedy courier delivery.
- Transit times for the printed ID Card may be longer than usual because to the COVID-19 epidemic and local government precautions.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must meet ALL of the following requirements before you may be considered.
- Be an IATAN accredited business owner, employee, or independent contractor.
- IATAN registration is required.
- At least 20 hours a week should be devoted to travel sales.
- In the past 24 months, you must have earned at least USD 5,000 in salary and/or commissions.
- Be over the age of 18.

How to renew IATA ID Card?
Up to three months before the expiration date of the current ID Card, you can apply for a new one. 2 months before to the expiration date, you’ll receive an email with a renewal notice.
