I am very disappointed how the Brussels Airlines (BA) handled the situation with my travel. I had a complicated travel attending Scientific meeting in Berlin ( March 9-14 which has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 disease in Germany due to the spread of coronavirus. In addition, I suppose to attend another meeting which suppose to take place in Brussels (ISICEM) from March 24 until March 27. in between I have to travel to the UK. Therefore my booking includes two itineraries.
First, ML9TET
March 7 Washington (IAD) to Berlin (TXL) going through Brussels
March 27 Brussels to Washington
Second, Q5I9UZ
March 23 Edinburgh to Brussels
Because of cancellation of the meeting in Germany due to the global situation with COVID-19, I wanted to ask for credit on the first part of my trip from Washington to Berlin and exchange that for the possibility to fly from Washington to Brussels on March 21, and keep the second part on the returned flight from Brussels to Washington on march 27. I also paid fa fees for luggage which apparently can not be reimbursed or credited. My company (PPTA) has office not only in the US but also in brussels and I and my colleagues travel very frequently to Brussels. The BA is one of the travel companies which we use. Therefore, I contacted the office in the US using phone number 1-800-401-1801, waited almost an hour to get someone to talk too and to my biggest disappointment did not receive any cooperation from the agent and then from the supervisor (Naveen). Both said that nothing could be done and If I want to cancel, then I can cancel or leave the second part of my trip and by a one way ticket to Brussels on March 21. I am gold member of the united Airlines (EGN02858) and Brussels airlines are the partners of the Alliance. I am sure that the BA has a lot of cancellations related to the travel in this complicated situation. But I would expect that the organization would not take advantage of such situations to make easy money because people can not travel not because they have suddenly change their mind but because this emerging disease took us all by surprise.
I would appreciate very much if you take seriously my request and help me to make arrangements for the travel. I expect that the credit will be very appropriate way to address the issue, at least for the first part of the itinerary (ML9TET).
