Global Entry interviews
Travelers who wish to interview at Dulles must be conditionally approved. This was part of the program called Enrollment on Arrival. The interview is one of the final steps before becoming approved for Global Entry. This is available for both travelers who are arriving in the United States and for travelers who are departing the country.
Global entry allows pre-approved travelers to complete their interview once they return to the US after traveling overseas. Per The Points Guy, Enrollment on Arrival is offered at more than 60 airports around the world, including in more than 25 states and Aruba, Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates. Enrollment on Arrival also requires a US passport and other proof of residency documents in addition to the interview process.
Global Entry application process
Global Entry program allows accelerated clearance procedures when enter into United States and it is operated by the United States Customs and Border Protection. It allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to use specific self-service kiosks upon entry. Traveler can scan their fingerprints and passport at these kiosks. It reduces wait times in immigration queues, similar to how TSA PreCheck operates within the United States.
An online application is the first step, the applicant’s must enter their current location and updates from the past five years. Once the online application is submitted, the Global Entry team will review and verify it. After verified, the applicant will be conditionally approved. But, it is not the final confirmation of Global Entry being approved. The applicant will then have 730 days to attend an in-person interview with a Global Entry official after becoming conditionally approved.
The interviews are conducted at Global Entry Enrollment Centers, although several airports have Global Entry interview areas, as previously mentioned. During interview a passport, proof of address, and a secondary form of identification are required. The interview will take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes.
