Generally IATA Codes are used in the field of airline and travel industry which is very important for the purpose of an airline identification, passenger and cargo traffic documents. The travel agents who wants to sell the international or domestic tickets are required to obtain IATA number
IATA Codes are classified into
- Airline Designator Codes
- Accounting or Prefix codes
- Baggage Tag Issuer Code (BTIC)

How to obtain TIDS (Travel Industry Designator Service) code?
What is TIDS code?
For the travel related business, one must obtain IATA/TIDS numeric code where TIDS is an IATA program having unique numeric code recognized by the travel industry suppliers globally which allows the travel agents to book the air travel tickets, hotel packages, car booking, rental/transfer, theme parks, cruises and any other tourism related sales.
Benefits of having TIDS code
- TIDS code is easily identified by the travel industry suppliers globally.
- Airline ticket booking/packages, Hotel booking and Car Rental booking can be easily done using TIDS code.
- TIDS code is used in the sales of non-accredited points of sale.
- Some suppliers also require an IATA/TIDS Code for onboarding on their distribution platforms.
*TIDS agent will not be able to issue airline tickets through IATAās BSP (Billing and Settlement Plan)
Eligibility to apply for TIDS code
Procedure to apply for TIDS code
- If you are a new user, register through IATA Customer Portal
- And if you are an existing user, log in through IATA Customer Portal
- Click TIDS icon under ‘Services’ tab.
- Submit the required documents mentioned below.
- Complete & Submit your TIDS Application
- Once the TIDS application form is submitted online along with the required documents, your application will be processed by IATA within 3 to 5 working days.
Documents required to apply for TIDS
- Supporting documents related to the legal form of business and ownership of the business entity.
- Business registration number / tax registration number copy
- Letter from the bank or bank account statement in the business name.
- One recommendation letter from an IATA Airline member, GDS (i.e. Amadeus, Sabre, Worldspanā¦) or any major travel industry suppliers (i.e. air travel, cruise, hotels, car rentals, theme parks)
- License related to sales / travel services issued from Government (if applicable). For example, a copy of the provincial travel agency license issued by Canadian government located in QC (Quebec), ON (Ontario), and BC (British Colombia) must be submitted by an applicant. A copy of the license issued by Turkish Ministry of Tourism & Culture must be submitted by an applicant.
