Currently, Japan Airlines (JAL) is the only airline offering non-stop flights between Bengaluru and Tokyo.
Since August 6, 2022, JAL has raised the number of flights from twice weekly to three times weekly. For those going to or from Japan as well as those connecting to or from the United States and Canada, this additional flight provides yet another convenient choice.
In its launch campaign from back in 2020, JAL was planning to introduce the first and only direct flight connection between Bengaluru and Tokyo (Narita) in March of that year. It was hailed as the newest “cloud service that techies are looking forward to.”
The airline began operations with special flights only as needed as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic.
As part of the Air Bubble agreement with the Indian government, JAL began operating regular flights once per week in March 2021.
JAL is happy to expand its flight frequency in response to the pandemic’s slow global recovery. The airline currently offers three roundtrip flights per week. JAL is striving to carry out just one flight per day as originally intended.
JAL and Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) organised a lamp-lighting ceremony at the check-in counter for flight JL754 and a gate ceremony prior to departure on the evening of August 5, 2022, to commemorate the progress in the resume of direct flights from Bengaluru to Tokyo (Narita).
Murugesh R. Nirani, the Honourable Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries, GoK, and Smt. Gunjan Krishna, the IAS-Commissioner of the Department of Industries and Commerce, who both travelled to Japan on JL754 on behalf of the Indian State of Karnataka, graced the ceremony.
Japan Airlines vice president and regional manager for India, Shinya Naruse, who was also present at the event, said: “We are very excited to make this progress in better serving the community in Bengaluru with more convenient flights to Japan, and thereby also providing greater options to connect to North America.
We will keep working to provide the highest level of security and comfort for all of our visitors travelling between India and Japan, helping to maintain a healthy exchange of social and economic values between the two nations.
JAL flies the route using a Boeing 787-8 aircraft with 30 business class seats and 156 award-winning economy seats.
Customers can effortlessly fly out of Bengaluru after midnight to reach in Japan the following morning for a full day of activities. Additionally, this gives travellers travelling to 11 cities that JAL flies directly to in North America from Tokyo Narita Airport plenty of layover time.
Customers can travel on JAL, an SKYTRAX 5-Star Airline, with more confidence. In appreciation of its COVID-19 safety measures, JAL has also received the highest levels of certification, including the 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating and the Diamond Certification for Health Safety from APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association).
JAL is also one of just seven airlines to have been awarded APEX’s first World Class 2022 designation, demonstrating its forefront-of-the-industry approach to security, environmental responsibility, and customer satisfaction.
