I am looking for some assistance/consideration. My 95 year old mom passed away today. My father was a Pearl Harbor veteran. She is going to be buried with him at the Houston National Cemetery on August 24th.
I have already booked a ticket for flight 252 on August 22nd. I am a senior and also a disabled veteran on a fixed income. If at all possible, I’m trying to find out if UA would allow me to check one bag at no cost. I tried to get help at the main customer service number, but they told me any assistance would have to come from UA in Honolulu. Your consideration would be appreciated.

As I am nearly deaf I’ve found that telephone conversations are extremely difficult (United’s 1-800 number). For my current question I am unable to navigate the links of your reservation and MileagePllus sites (my number is GWB60843). So I am trying this local (Honolulu) email contact.
• My wife Patricia Chun Moberly was unable to use her ticket IOPHMT (issued July 16, 2019, for December 8, 2019, Honolulu-San Francisco RT; to visit relatives in the Bay Area). We had hoped to apply the remaining value of the ticket to a new one, but it appears we will be unable to travel safely before the July 16, 2020 expiration.
• Question: Will United extend the expiration, and if so, how do I apply?
* Question: If there is no extension, and I apply the receipt to a new reservation, to San Francisco for next December (as your reservation site says is possible), what happens if there are travel restrictions or further outbreaks then and travel is not safe?
[I am the one writing you because I purchased her ticket, and it was my foul-up that caused her last-minute cancellation last December.]
