I canceled a flight booking because I could not obtain the necessary visa as expected. After up to six weeks, the agent is yet to refund my money, in spite learning that the airline refunded the agent almost immediately. Kindly let me know what next I should do. Thanks.

    Dear IATA,
I wish to formally lodge a complaint against Ugofly Travels and Tours Ltd. owned by Chinyere Grace Ugochukwu and located at Novotel Hotel Building, No3 Stadium Road, By Airforce Junction, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

I booked a trip with them on the 24th of August, 2021, a payment of Three Hundred Thousand Naira was made to Ugofly Travels and Tours Ltd. Account No: 1016668741. UBA being the deposit payment for an Egypt tour scheduled for the 9th to 16th of October 2021. Ugofly confirmed receipt of this payment and an email containing my passport data page was sent to begin the process of securing the trip.(Payment advise attached)

After much back and forth, the agent said the trip will have to be moved to a different date because she was unable to secure the visas on time as a result of some issues she had with the Egyptian embassy. I told her I canā€™t work with a different date as this was meant to be a birthday trip plus I already took my leave days from work so I asked for a refund.

Ugofly Travels (Chinyere) now said she is going to refund me less 25% which is her cancellation fee,
I have tried to resolve this with proof showing that the website https://ugoflytravels.com/terms-and-conditions/ (screenshot attached) says that if a trip is cancelled by the agent, there will be no cancellation fees and I called her attention to that.

Ugofly Travels (Chinyere) said the website is old and that the terms and conditions (clearly stated on the website) does not apply anymore and she was going to go ahead and hold on to my 25% amounting to seventy five thousand naira.

I again drew her attention to the miscellaneous part of the terms and conditions (screenshot attached) which stated that the website will have the updated version of their terms and she is insisting on holding on to my money for no reason and this is tantamount to fraud.

All efforts to peacefully recover my full refund have proven futile. I therefore request for the IATA to investigate this breach of my consumer right and ask Ugofly Travels and Tours Ltd. to issue my full refund with immediate effect.

I have copied the company in the email for their side of the story and follow up on my complaint.

Thank you in anticipation of your intervention.

    Kind regards,

  • Marc Bou Maroun

Hello, we booked 4 tickets from Abuja to Benin City on the 31st of October (booking reference AQ767T).
Weā€™d like to ask about the baggage regulations, we are going to have 3 bags instead of 1 so we would like to know how can we proceed with this issue.
    Thank You
