To whom it may concern,
My name is Barbara Abdini Massaad. I am writing to tell you about our experience with Turkish Airlines, flying from Edingburgh to Beirut. Before I start, I would like to mention that I have traveled with Turkish Airlines for years all over the world. It has been my favorite airline for many reasons, and it continues to be. Unfortunately, this time we encountered a problem. We flew to Scotland for our daughter’s graduation on Thursday, 7 2022 with a return ticket on Sunday July 17. On our arrival to check our luggages, we were told that we needed to be tested for COVID. We were directed to the RANDOX stand at the airport, who were extremely professional and helpful. I have a paper from them that proves that we were there on that day (no-show was a lie). We were very stressed out because of time, but because we were early we were able to get the results fast. Unfortunately, I was tested POSITIVE. It came as a surprise to me. My husband, Serge Massaad was NEGATIVE. The lady at the check in counter of Turkish airline suddenly became very rude, gave us a paper with a phone number and asked us to immediately leave the airport. We called our travel agent and were given the number of Turkish Airlines in Edingburgh (no answer and my daughter from home got finally someone to answer who hung up rudely with no reason). We had to find quick solutions and were forced to stay in difficult accommodations. Two days later, I tested for COVID and my test result was NEGATIVE. Our travel agent tried to book another return ticket but had no luck. We had to pay a “no show” penalty, which is quite unfair as we were there for two hours talking with the lady at the counter. Since all flights were fully booked, we had to purchase another ticket for the following week. We made it back home, but our trip cost us 1,820$ extra (which is huge for us, as now in Lebanon we are going through the worst economical crisis of it’s history). We were not expecting this from Turkish Airlines. For some reason, they upgraded us to Business class on our flight back, but to tell you the truth it felt condescending and humiliating. At this point, I don’t know what can be done, but I needed to tell you about this experience. Will I fly again, yes because as I stated before I am a loyal customer.
