Aer Lingus (Airlines) was established in 15 April 1936, commenced operations in 27 May 1936. Aer Lingus is the flag carrier airline of Ireland and the second-largest airline in Ireland. Founded by the Irish government, it was privatised between 2006 and 2015 and it is now a subsidiary of International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways, Iberia and Vueling. Excess Baggage Fees
- If you choose not to pre-book a checked bag in advance and arrive at the airport with bags to check, you’ll be charged for the first 20kg of baggage allowance per customer, and then for every additional kilo after that at the per kilo rate.
- Added checked baggage to your booking but arrive with more than your personal checked bag allowance, charged for excess baggage.
- Excess baggage is charged ā¬10 per kilo.
- Excess fees will be applied to any weight over a customer’s personal allowance.
- Bag fees are non-refundable.
Special Items
- Small musical instruments may qualify as hand baggage.
- Medium-sized musical instruments may be carried in the cabin if an individual seat for the instrument is purchased.
- Medical equipment (dialysis machines, wheelchairs, etc.) are carried free of charge.
- Maximum weight for sports equipment: 23 kg/50 lb. Normal excess baggage rates apply if the passenger carries excess this amount.

Aer Lingus Airlines Checked Baggage
- The maximum dimension of the bag is 158cm and the weight limit is 32kg.
- Beyond the first complimentary bag, additional checked baggage rates differ depending on your route.
- Flights within Europe have three options: 20kg or 25kg in one bag or 40kg spread over two bags.
- Transatlantic flights also have three options: One bag at 20 or 25kg, or 30kg spread over two bags.
- Business and BusinessFlex customers are allowed up to three pieces of checked baggage, totaling no more than a combined 70kg weight restriction.
- Note that all baggage allowances are per passenger, each way.
- Saver Fares are not permitted any checked baggage. Costs range from 45 Euros for 20 kgs to 55 Euros for up to 30 kg. Other fares range from 60 Euros for 20kgs to 70 Euros for up to 30kg.
- These fares are for online booking. It will cost you more to check it at the airport.
Items that not allowed to carry on Aer Lingus Checked baggage
- Don’t keep any important documents and materials, valuable items like negotiable papers, money, jewelry, precious metal and precious metal product, curio, painting and calligraphic works, mobile phone, computer, camera, video camera, personal electronic device and samples, travel identification documents and prescribed medicine taken regularly.
- Not provide declared value of Baggage.
- The mentioned above items treated as ordinary checked baggage if Aer Lingus are responsible for the loss of or damage to them.
Important notes about bringing your bag on board
- If you’re seated in row 1 (economy or business class) or at an emergency exit, you must store your baggage in an overhead locker.
- To place your own carry-on baggage into the overhead locker without assistance.
- Personal items under the seat in front of you, keeping the overhead space free for 10kg/7kg carry-on bags.
- Loose items must be stowed securely for take off and landing as directed by the cabin crew.
